Default Recover Email and Address Book From old hard drive

It is called spamming the newsgroup. I added "wierd" to my killfile about
7AM this morning. I won't see those posts anymore.

Oh Frank...do you know why I see so many "wierd" without any messages????
It
is weird isn't it? Adela

Thank you Frank, I agree that this forum format is rather difficult
to
handle, and I never liked the web emails anyway. One thing I'm going
to
do
is delete my signature as there's no room. )

I could do it on my OE though I don't like overburdening my email
with so
many additional messages. I ask myself, why I couldn't enter to post
here???

Anyway, I'm copying your information too and will try doing it from
my OE.
Thanks again. Adela

All I can suggest is that you not use that clunky Web interface.
Use
Outlook Express.

In Outlook Express go to Tools | Accounts | Add (or New) | News.
Set up an account for this news server:

msnews.microsoft.com

The server is free and does not require you to logon. This news
server
carries over 2200 newsgroups related to Microsoft products and keeps
messages at least 30 days.

The problem is that few of those who answer most questions have tried
the
Web interface and don't like it (too clumsy and slow), so we don't know
much
about it. And aren't interested in learning. There are a few who use
it
who might answer this thread.

Assuming this is about the web interface that you are using,
turn off your popup blocker or temporarily disable it when using that
New button. (That may be a simple as pressing Ctrl- or Alt-Ctrl-
when clicking the button.) Clicking New launches a tiny popup window
to let you declare the type of message you are going to write.
Alternatively modify the popup blocker to allow popups from that site.

Hello and thanks Robert, but I no longer have a popup blocker as my google
toolbar has disappeared. When you say "Clicking New launches" you mean
launches to post here in MS?

And please explain this too: "Alternatively modify the popup blocker to
allow popups from that site." Do you mean to enable again the popup
function (if I had it and had it disabled)?

Thanks again. Adela

Yes. On the "MS Communities web interface to Newsgroups"
E.g. on the web page that you are still using to send replies with. ; )
If you ever want to start your own discussion, instead of hijacking
someone else's thread, using that site, click on New [Start a new thread],
and wait for a small dropdown menu to appear there.
That's what it looks like but it's really implemented by a tiny popup window.
Hence, if you have popup blockers active you may only be able
to see that menu if you make sure that the popup blockers allow it.

And please explain this too: "Alternatively modify the popup blocker to

function (if I had it and had it disabled)?

Are you saying you still don't see the New button's menu
after disabling *all* your popup blockers? Did you try using Ctrl- Click
(e.g. with IE6sp2) or Ctrl+Alt- (with IE7) just in case it is still active?

Hmm... I just tried changing IE7's popup blocker to High level and found
that the New menu *still* appears, so perhaps that isn't the implementation
after all.

BTW I just noticed that you haven't disclosed *any* information about
either your OS or your browser so I may be wasting my time guessing
about this. E.g. if you're not using IE as your browser when posting
or you're not allowing Scripting and ActiveX controls you would also
have difficulty using the site.

Thanks again. Adela

Good luck

Robert

Robert, just a note that following your suggestion I was able to open a new
thread and I did and posted the problem for which I had "illegally" entered
here in the first place. I guess my new post hasn't been posted by the
system yet. thank you so much! ;o) Adela

Remove IE7 via Add/Remove in the Control Panel and IE6 should come back
without doing anything else.

If you still have problems:

For help with IE7, Please post to the Internet Explorer General Newsgroup.
