OE identities again
I only need one identity in my OE. I named it with my name. But when I close
OE and re-open it, a new identity, 'Profil1' comes up and automatically opens all new emails. I delete it, but it keeps comimg back. So I deleted 'My name' identity, and changed 'Profil1' to 'My name'. New 'Profil1' comes up. So I always have two identities. It's very annoing. You suggested it may be a problem with anti-spam program, so I uninstalled it. No, it didn't help. How do I get rid of 'Profil1' poping up? Can I move emails from one identity to another? I could then stay with Profil1 but don't want to loose all data in 'My name' Thank you Izabela |

Did you also disable the email scan in your anti-virus program? It is NOT Outlook Express that is changing the name. It is some other program. After you verify there is no email scanning in any other program, use my ForceID script to remove the settings in the registry for the default and last-used Identity. In the Identity dialogue, make whatever changes you need and see if they then stay. http://www.insideoe.com/tips/forceid.htm -- Tom Koch, former MVP for IE/Outlook Express 1997-2005 http://www.insideoe.com Awareness is free. |

No, I had SPAMfighter, but uninstalled it to check if it creates the
problem. No anti-spam now. I have Avira Anti-Vir PE Classic, but can't find where to swich of the email scanning. I had SPYWAREfighter, but uninstalled it to check if it created the problem.
I don't have any of the applications you have listed. I am using Avira Anti Vir PE Classic, but can't find how to swich off email scanning in it. But now, when I think of it, I do have some left over of a BullGuard, which was improperly uninstalled some time ago. I will check it out and be back. You had both SPAMfighter and SPYWAREfighter installed? I wouldn't be
surprised if they caused even worse problems. I tried and tried, and couldn't find how to do it. No wonder! It turned out
Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic doesn't have a MailGuard so I can't switch it off! What next? I managed to completely uninstall BullGuard, don't have any anti-spam

Go to Start | Run and type msconfig and press Enter Go to the Startup tab and uncheck Everything. Restart the computer and try again. If it works right now go back to msconfig and recheck things one at a time and restart and check again until you find out which program is doing it. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup.
