loosing connection

Every time i open up my outlook express it knocks me offline. I have dial up.
I have no idea why. I do not have it set up to hang up after send and
receive. It doesn't even get to that point. It just opens and my connection is
lost.

appreciate any help.

You probably have a mismatch in terms of where OE is looking to connect. Go
to Tools | Options | Connection and Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties |
Connection and check that the settings are correct.

Tools | Accounts
Do this for each account:
Select the account and click Properties.
On the Connection tab uncheck the option to "Always use this connection:".
