Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access and Defaults |
Browser: IE /must/ be chosen here if you're running IE7 and want such links
to work.

If still no joy:

From:
http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

If nothing happens when you click a link:
Open Windows Explorer, or the Control Panel.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to [NONE] URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet
Shortcut) and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome (Check the path to
iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

Default Outlook Express - IE 7

Bruce,

Tried this without success. After Set Program Ac cess and Defaults selected
Custom button and clicked on IE and Outlook Express. Clicked ok. Tried URL
address in Outlook Express email and it did not work. Went back to check
settings and they had returned to Use My Current Web Browser, etc. At the IE
Tools/Internet Options/Connection it is indicating IE7 is the current default
browser, but selecting URL within email is not working. Any other thoughts?

Try selecting Microsoft Windows instead of Custom.

Default Outlook Express - IE 7

I have the same problem. However, there are two accounts on my PC and it
works fine on one but not the other!

I tried switching to MS Windows instead of custom in the settings and it
made no difference and reset itself to custom.

Any help much appreciated.
Hugo.

It might be a security program blocking the Registry change it needs to
make. A few of the programs now doing this a
Ad-aware's Ad-Watch
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot Tools IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5 Reported to be fixed in later versions.

In the case of Zone Alarm 6.5 it actually has to be uninstalled. Make sure
the Windows Firewall is turned on until you reinstall Zone Alarm.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking with Networking and try the change.
