OE 6 Data Base Q
Nearby neighbor is cursed with an older Dell running
Win98SE, using Mindspring, IE and OE6. All over sudden -- a short time after starting OE6, they get a nastygram: "MSIMN.EXE caused a page fault in DIRECTDB.DLL". I have replaced both MSIMN.EXE and DIRECTDB.DLL. Problem persists. I'm guessing that there is a data base record problem in the email index for OE6, but since I am a mozilla user, I don't know what to look for. Is there an email index file I can delete such that OE6 will regen it?? thanks 'n all nick |
OE 6 Data Base Q
Start he http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash
General OE Caveats: - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm. - WinXP SP2 only: Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place. - Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), AH-VSOP nick wrote: Nearby neighbor is cursed with an older Dell running Win98SE, using Mindspring, IE and OE6.
