Is there a way to upload e-mails back to server ?
 

Since I am an avid user of Outlook Express, I do check my mail everyday, using my OE6, but if I am out of town/home, I use web-mail, by logging on to the web-mail server. Well, there is a limit of space (2Gig) and time (100 days) to utilize the web-mail server, so I have to download and save my e-mails in the Outlook Express.

Now, here is the problem, as I receive bunch of technical papers, and I need to look at them while I am out of home, I can only see web-mails for the limited past.

Question - is there a way to re-load old e-mails from OE6, back to the server, so that I can view them while I am out of town?

Any comments will be highly appreciated...

So why not save your OE message store onto, say, a USB thumb drive and
read them from there? I suspect but have not tested that you could even
define another identity in OE whose message store location is on the USB
thumb drive so you could simply switch identities to switch between the
message stores.

I am not familier with the process, although I use USB thumb drive for file transfer. How do I set the OE to open the .dbx files
from a different place other than what OE normally uses for individual users?

Open such a message in OE and click File | Save As and save it to your thumb
drive.

I am used to the process you have described, but this is useful to take individual e-mails and save one at a time. I am still
looking for a process to move the whole inbox .dbx file, and open it using the Outlook Express (of course, using my own password)..

Is there a way to upload e-mails back to server ?

I am used to the process you have described, but this is useful to take

You shouldn't save messages in the Inbox, but:
In OE on the laptop make a folder named Transfer.
Open it.
Go to Tools | Options Maintenance | Store Folder and write down where OE is
saving its files.
Close OE.
On the Desktop, open OE.
Go to Tools | Options Maintenance | Store Folder and write down where OE is
saving its files.
Close OE.
Go to the store folder with Windows Explorer.
Copy Inbox.dbx to My Documents.
Rename it to Transfer.dbx
Copy it to the laptop and overwrite the Transfer.dbx you created at the
beginning.
Open OE and look in the Transfer folder.

As far as a password, it will have whatever password that identity has on
the laptop, not the one it had on the desktop (if they are different). But
OE being what it is, that provides very little security.

It's not clear whether or not you are aware of and using this, so I
might as well mention it:

Tools - Accounts... - Mail - click on relevant account(s) -
Properties - Advanced - tick "Leave a copy of messages on server" and
tick "Remove from server after ... day(s)".

Is there a way to upload e-mails back to server ?

I am familiar with what you have described above. I have "Remove from server after ... day(s)" set for 100 days, which is
probably maximum number provided by Outlook Express or the server. e-Mails older than 100 days are automatically deleted from
server.

So far I was advised to mail myself each individual e-mails, so that it ends up in the server, and stay for 100 days, or up to my
space limit, which ever comes first.
