How do you get OE6 on new XP system with IE7 pre-installed?

It looks like I'm going to have to replace my laptop very shortly (crashing
too often). Dell Small Business (who our company buys from), gives the
option of getting XP Pro and Vista.

If I get a new laptop with XP Pro, it apparently comes with IE7
pre-installed.

1) How would I go about getting OE 6 without using or downloading IE6?
2) Do new XP systems being shipped now aside from including IE7 also have
included OE 6?

Thanks in advance for your help!!
:)

OE6 is unchanged whether or not you have IE7. They have branched apart and
the IE7 updates don't include any OE updates except some printing bug and
other problems. The files OE uses are unchanged.

If you get Vista, then you get the next rendition of OE which they've called
Windows Mail.

But .. that doesn't answer his question. I don't know the answer either;
are you implying that it's still OE6 with pre-installed Vista? Please
clarify? You seem to day it's not different, but then go on to indicate
it's got the new name without saying whether that's just a renamed OE6 or
not.
I've seen it discussed both ways in these groups. No, I don't have Vista
and don't know when/if I'll get it. Just not yet for sure.

If you get Win XP with IE7 preinstalled, it will have OE6.

If you get Vista, it will have IE7 and Windows Mail which replaces OE6.

How do you get OE6 on new XP system with IE7 pre-installed?

Hi Steve,

Clarified question: If the new laptop I am ordering from Dell Small
Business division has XP Professional, and IE 7 installed, will it also
include OE6?

I know IE6 always had OE6 bundled within it (not true w/ IE7?). I just
don't want to go through the process of ordering a new laptop w/ XP Pro and
finding out it doesn't have OE6 installed.

Thanks in advance for your clarification!!

How do you get OE6 on new XP system with IE7 pre-installed?

Internet Explorer no longer contains Outlook Express, with version 7 of
Internet Explorer onward. If you get a computer with IE7 installed, it will
still have OE6 as the free mail program. There will be no future changes to
Outlook Express (other than for security updates) as all development work
related to the program has ceased. Windows Mail in Vista is the successor
Mail program for Windows but at present will not be back ported to XP or
earlier systems.

IE and OE got a divorce and IE moved on to IE7 and got renamed and retooled
for Vista.

If you get any computer with XP on it, it will have OE6.
