What makes you think OE needs to be repaired?

repair OE when IE 7 is installed
Most of the OE issues are due to message store corruption and not to faulty
installs. OE spits out a generic error message saying it needs to be reinstalled, but that's almost never true. steve "David Sherman" wrote in message ... Does anyone how to repair only OE when IE 7 is installed? This doesn' t help. http://support.microsoft.com/default...1201211201 20 thanks |
repair OE when IE 7 is installed
Lets count the reasons:
1. user can't print from OE. HP 520 prints frpm all other applications. 2. There is no script error when user tries to print. It doesn't print. 3. Since IE and OE worked together, any problems with IE may cause a problem with OE. User installed IE7 and couldn't connect to the internet. He called Microsoft and talked to them for 2 1/2 hours with no resolution to the problem. I removed IE7 and then he got connected. 4. Later he decided to use Windows restore feature to fix another problem, So how he is back to IE6. 5. Since Windows update was turned on and then he got IE 7 again. 7. Now with IE 7 on the machine, he can browse the internet but we can't get the menu bar to work even after downloading IE7menufix.zip. 8. He even ran SFC /scannow on his windows XP home machine. The only other solution is to do a Windows repair. what other solutions are there? thanks On Mon, 19 Feb 2007 21:51:43 -0500, "PA Bear" wrote: What makes you think OE needs to be repaired? |

Okay, you gave no reason for your desire to repair it.
I would agree in this case its not a message store issue. I would go back and uninstall IE7 and then see if the printing is fixed. And verify first that one can print from IE (if you stick with 7 or go back to 6) prior to printing from OE. Because if you can't print from IE, then its not an OE issue and reinstalling OE won't fix it, as its printing is dictated by IE. steve "David Sherman" wrote in message ... repair OE when IE 7 is installed
1. First thing to do is contact HP for an update to make the HP 520
compatible with IE7. Do this before proceeding below. For more information, see the first 3 results he http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks...rector+ie7&p=1 2. Now, it sounds like this user has a horked install of IE7. I suggest reading the following link... http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install ....and then uninstalling and reinstalling IE7 per Sandi's tips, and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx as the installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.
