I cannot receive email from my mail server in OE. I acted on all
suggestions, including turning off my email scanning. And what do you know? Norton AV software turns it on again, so of course I'm still not receiving my email. What do I do so Norton AV can't turn on the email scanning once I've disabled it? Thanks for any suggestions. |

Get rid of Norton and don't replace it with McAfee. They both cause nothing
but headaches with OE. I suggest AVG Free: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 or: http://www.grisoft.com/doc/40/lng/ww When prompted, choose Custom Installation and *uncheck* e-mail scanning when you see the option. Norton, and McAfee, products are not Outlook Express friendly, and I don't know of any OE-MVP that would recommend using them. To remove Norton completely: Commonly used Symantec tools: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05103109480139 Using the Norton Removal Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039 Removing NAV 2003 and earlier using Rnav2003.exe. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01092114452606 Symantec NIS, NAV and NSW 2004, 2005, 2006 removal http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm Symantec NIS, Norton Antispam, and NPF 2004, 2005, 2006 removal http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem1.htm And if necessary: http://www.ccleaner.com/ -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Chatelaine" wrote in message ... Thank you, thank you, thank you. And thanks for steering me clear of
