I did that but even after I close OE and restart the PC - if I open OE it
goes out and checks my e-mail. "Jerry" wrote: Tools accounts mail and delete yourself. "Maureen" wrote in message ... how do I delete my main identity in OE? I am giving my PC to my grandson and I don't want my messages accidentally downloaded if OE is opened. thanks for the help. |

You want to get rid of your messages also. First find the location of the
message store via Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced | Store Folder. You will want to get rid of the dbx files (back them up first if you want) see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4 Before you do that though, go to File | Identities and set up a new Identity and then exit the wizard without setting up a mail account or use a dummy account. Then go to File | Identities | Manage Identities and delete the old Main Identity (or whatever it was named). Then get rid of the dbx files and that should get rid of it all. Also clear your Temporary Internet Files in IE and run a defrag on it to wipe out stuff. steve "Maureen" wrote in message news ![]() I did that but even after I close OE and restart the PC - if I open OE it goes out and checks my e-mail. Is the mail account that you deleted back in OE after you restart the
PC? If so, and if you just close and reopen OE after deleting the account is it back? If the deleted account comes back after restarting the PC, but not just after restarting OE, then some program run at Pc start up is reinstalling the account. This could be some software from your ISP. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Maureen" wrote in message news ![]() I did that but even after I close OE and restart the PC - if I open OE it goes out and checks my e-mail. You don't. Steve said:

Defragging should be a normal task just as compacting is. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Pappion" wrote in message ... Steve, how does one run a Defrag on OE only?
