Hello,
I recently set up my outlook express 6 to download and send from my yahoo email. I sent myself a test email and it says the email is from my hotmail account, Not my yahoo. Furthermore it posts my old password for my hotmail account as well. I have tried everything from deleteing all account and adding just my yahoo account within outlook express, Switching identities..... No matter what I try it still displays my hotmail email address and password to the receiver of my email. It is using the yahoo pathways but the display name is my hotmail email address and password! I use ypop to enable me to download from yahoo, but that is all so simple and configured correctly... Can anyone help me??? Redbeartwo |

You removed all email accounts in Tools | Accounts | Mail, shut down OE, rebooted and then restarted OE? No accounts exists in OE? You set up the Yahoo account using their info, your username and password. Try doing it like that and see what happens. And make sure you start in the same Identity you were in when you closed OE. |

That information comes from Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, General
tab. If you have more than one mail account set up in OE, in the message composition window there will be a FROM line drop down box. For a new message, this will be the default mail account. Before sending, click the down arrow if you want to select a different account. If you are still having problems, then look at the message in the Sent Items folder. Look at the Message Source (Ctrl-F3). If the FROM header is correct, but the message arrives with something different, then some other program is modifying the information after it leaves Outlook Express. This could potentially be some anti-virus program scanning outgoing mail or some Internet security software. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "redbeartwo" wrote in message ... I have tried deleting all account and closing OE. I re open the program and
add my yahoo account once again. It's the only email account listed. When I sent an email it still puts my hotmail address on the from line, including my password?? Any other guesses? Thanks for the information. I have tried what you have asked. When I select
CTRL f3 on my sent email it does come up with the correct yahoo email address in the FROM line. What program could be scanning this? I just re imaged my computer, so norton has not been installed yet. I have no spyware programs being utilized at this time. Maybe a windows issue?? Any help would be appreciated. Look at the Message Source (Ctrl-F3) for one of your messages that you
send to yourself. The received headers will indicate what mail servers the message went through. If you are sending via Yahoo to yourself on Yahoo, only should show there. Additionally, look for any X-headers that could identity a program that the message went through, such as a security program. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "redbeartwo" wrote in message ... I think I need to see the actual messages. A sample message that you
sent to yourself - both the version that you in the Sent Items folder and the one you got back in the Inbox. It's best if you zip the message so that I get an exact copy of it. To do that, do a File, Save As to an EML file of a problem messages. Then Right click the saved EML file and select Send To, Compressed (zipped) folder. Then e-mail me the resulting ZIP file (you can highlight both saved EML files, then Right click and zip to a single file. Or do each as its own zip file). Alternately, you can do a Message, Forward As Attachment of a problem message. This is not as good as the zip file since the headers can be modified in transit which may obscure the problem. A simple Forward is worthless since it does not include the headers. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "redbeartwo" wrote in message ... Well.... the name that is printed that the email said its from is there is a couple spaces and then my (old) hotmail passcode, then there are a few spaces and )... So its sent from the yahoo platform I believe but its for some reason picking up my hotmail information when I cannot find anywhere on this compter??? What do you think? Yahoo Mail Accounts have options you can set online. It sounds as though
you set a "reply to" address other than your Yahoo address. Check your Options within Yahoo Mail online. Just my hunch...
