Incoming Email Time Out
I'm using OE 6 and am having a problem retrieving my emails. Each time I
try to retrieve my emails, I the first 6 emails and then my email program times out while trying to retrieve the 7th email. When I try to retrieve again, the 7th email (which is a 3 MB picture email) is there, but I start receiving the first 6 emails again and it times out on the same 7th email. I've tried to contact my ISP, but they say there's nothing they can do other than reset my email account which they said would probably delete all my previous emails. Is there anything I can do other than backup my mail directory to a folder and have them reset my email account? Thanks, Greg |

That 7th message is big and corrupt. Can you access WebMail for your ISP?
If you go there, you can delete it and all should be good after then. Also, make sure you do not have E-mail scanning selected in your anti-virus program. Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 Another option. Create a Message Rule: Where the message size is more than size Delete it from Server Click on Size and set it for about 100KB. Click: Apply Now. Go back to the Inbox and click Send/Receive. This should get rid of the message. Remember to go back into Message Rules and either delete the rule, or uncheck it so you can use it in the future. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "Greg" wrote in message ... Thanks Bruce. I was able to access my webmail and delete that large email.
Once I did, I went back into OE and retrieved all the emails that were backlogged. Thanks again, Greg "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... That 7th message is big and corrupt.
