My OE stopped working - a mystery...
Since last Monday morning, when I try to send emails using OE, a menu pops up
asking me to enter my email address and password. I do so, only for the menu to return and return and return, without the email being sent. I can receive email via OE, but not send. I know there's nothing wrong with my isp, because a) I'e spoken to them and b) I can send and receive emails perfectly well via the web. My service provider says its a Microsoft problem. Microsoft (tech support helpline) says it's a hardware problem. The hardware manufacturer says it's nothing to do with them. Any thoughts |

Does your ISP use SMTP Authentication? Check with them.
In OE this is specified in Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers, Outgoing Mail Server, My Server Requires Authentication. If they aren't using SMTP authentication, then uncheck that option. If they are, then make sure that you are using the right SMTP server. And if they are, verify that the sending name and password is supposed to be the same as the receiving one. IF they are supposed to be different, then click the Settings button and fill your ISP settings there. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Lord Flyte" Lord wrote in message ...
