How do I move attached .dbx files from an e-mail to my deleted ite

I attached files from my deleted items folder to an e-mail and sent them to
myself. I cannot get the attachment to open in the Deleted items folder. I
had inadventently permanently deleted them, but found them in a folder, which
I had made, on my menu. I have e-mails which I need in the folder. I
thought that I could drag it from the attachment to the Deleted items, and
they would pop in there happily. So much for dreams.
Hope someone can help!

I'm not clear as to what you are trying to do. Can you open the attachment
while it is in the Inbox? What type of file extensions do they have? Can you
save them to your HDD and open them? Why do you want to open anything in
Deleted Items? It is a garbage pail.

General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become
corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your
mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created
folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible.

After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while
working *offline* and do it often.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until
the compacting is completed.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as
time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will
continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and
leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}.

And backup often.

I'm presuming that what you have are a bunch of EML file attachments.

Double click the main message so that it opens in its own window. You
should see the EML attachments in the Attach box of the header. You
should be able to drag them to the Deleted Items folder or most other
local folders (you can't drag to the Outbox).

If you have something other than EML attachments, you can't drag those
to mail folders.

I suggest that you give a look at DBXpress (http://www.oehelp.com).
