I'm using XP Media Center Edition 2002 w/SP2
Worked fine since I got PC in Dec. Now get an address book error and a note about OE not being installed properly. Also, can't open messages. They download form the server fine and appear in the list but when clicked they don't open. I've tried the to unistall and re-install via the add/delete windows components via the control panel. Didn't work. Also, can't find much on the support website realted to OE6 w/Windows XP beyond what I've already tried. |

Thanks but I've looked at all of these and most didn't seem relevant....
None related to XP and I also don't think any were related to OE6. Most discussed Windows 98/2000 problems and OE5. I'm using XP Media Center edition with IE7 and OE6. Microsoft often fails to update articles when the same problem/fix
applies to newer versions. OE5, 5.5 and 6 are substantially the same program, and in most cases, what applies to one applies to all. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Bman" wrote in message ... Alright. Thanks. I've tried all including uninstalling and re-installing
IE7 (I think it is linked to OE??). Basically gave up and started using Outlook instead which works fine. Not really a fix but I'm not going to spend any more time trying to figure this out for Microsoft. I do very much appreciate your efforts on trying to point me towards the "help" that was available. Uninstalling/reinstalling IE7 shouldn't have any affect on OE...unless OE
was open when you uninstalled/installed IE7. Since you mention Outlook: Do you have this Registry key?... HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \WAB \WAB4 If not, STOP; If so, is there a DWORD named UseOutlook (NB: no space) and is its value set to 1 (one)? If not, STOP; If so, Address Book is configured to share contacts with Outlook, even if you don't use it (can happen with the install of Office). Change the value to 0 (zero), Address Book should be available to you and all should be well. (If that DWORD is not present, don't create it, and don't alter any other DWORD values.) Note that any changes (additions, deletions, edits) made while sharing was enabled will not be available (displayed) in Address Book when sharing is disabled. cf. http://www.insideoe.com/files/wab.htm#share http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=191946 -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org Bman wrote: Alright.
