In IE select Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Reuse Windows for
launching short cuts. Note: however, even with that setting, if the current window is busy downloading content, IE will still open a new window. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "JethroUK©" wrote in message ... Hi,
Go to Internet Options Advanced check "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts." Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "JethroUK©" wrote in message ... Reuse windows is selected but it still does it - it's strange that it only
started couple days ago I think O/Express must be doing it "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ... | In IE select Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Reuse Windows for | launching short cuts. | | Note: however, even with that setting, if the current window is busy | downloading content, IE will still open a new window. | | -- | | Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm | | | "JethroUK©" wrote in message | ... | Something strange has happened to my Outlook Express/Explorer (i don't | know | which) | | As of yesterday - everytime i click a link in O/E email it opens a new | browser window (instead of using an existing window)???? | | In many years of use it has never behaved this way before | | Any ideas?? | | | | |

Yes, I know this is the IE6 newsgroup, but are you running IE6 or IE7?

I'm running IE6 & OE6 - does it make any difference to the solution?

From the headers of all your messages: "Microsoft Outlook Express
6.00.2600.0000" Did you recently reinstall IE/OE or Windows XP? Why? The machine is running extremely outdated and dangerously unsecure versions of OE, IE and Windows! Get WinXP SP2 installed ASAP, then check in at Windows Update to install all critical updates (which will be a considerable number, even after installing SP2), then make certain Automatic Updates is enabled. As far as your complaint is concerned, clicking a link in an OE message has always opened a new browser window here, but then the same window is used for any other links in an OE message opened during the same session. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org JethroUK© wrote: Reuse windows is selected but it still does it - it's strange that it only started couple days ago I think O/Express must be doing it "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ... You snipped out the most important part of my reply!...
