Default HELP RQD - Can receive mail but can't send it......

My BB provider is Talk Talk and my e-mail is via Orange (previously Freeserve
then Wannadoo etc..) I really think this is just a compatibility thing - but
I can't seem to find out what it is. Everything else is ok and all was fine
with dial up before I transferred over to BB.

Try this:
OEtoolsaccountsaffected freeserve accountpropertiesserver tab, change
the outgoing sever from smtp.freeserve.net to smtp.talktalk.net

how much I appreciate your help - I have been stuck with this problem for
MONTHS (yes I'm not exactly computer literate really) and you have solved it

Try this:
