I discovered that there was not spell checker operating when I upgraded to
the latest IE and tried to use Outlook Express. I ended up downloading a dictionary online but it is in American English and not British English! I have a British English spell checker working in Microsoft Office - is there any way I can get OE to use this? Thanks, Noel |

Installing Office' Proofing Tools should do it. You should then be able to
choose English (UK) on the Spelling tab in Options. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com "Noel S Pamfree" wrote in message ... By chance, did you install Office 2007? Its spell checker is not
compatible with OE. What spell checker did you download? Here's something that may be suitable: Outlook Express - Australian English Spell Check (May also be suitable for UK, Canada and other non U.S. English countries.) http://www.justlocal.com.au/clients/oespellcheck/ -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Noel S Pamfree" wrote in message ... I should have mentioned that the problem only occurred when I upgraded to
Office 2007. There is a English (UK) dictionary as well as the US version. However after the upgrade Outlook Express only had a French dictionary (wierd that) so I downloaded an English (US) from the web. I have no problems in Word but in Outlook Express (Tools / Options / Spelling) there is still only French or English (US) available. I am not sure where to find the Office Proofing Tools so perhaps you can help me find them! Thanks, Noel "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM" wrote in message ... Office 2007 breaks the OE spelling check. If you can't install the proofing
tools from an earlier version of Office, then you need a third party tool. I don't know if this one has British spelling: Free spellchecker. which I use on my laptop, which has Works. http://www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=2952&cat=10A -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com "Noel S Pamfree" wrote in message ... Hi Noel,
You may wish to give www.dictionary.JustLocal.com.au a go. Check out section 10. Apply the program and then the patch. I hope this helps. -- Kelvin Eldridge http://www.JustLocal.com.au Creator and maintainer of Australian English dictionary files for many open source and commercial projects.
