I've got an issue where an email is sent to my wife and I at the same time
from the same email address. When I receive it, it has attachments on it and they open fine. When she receives it there are no attachments at all. No indication that they are blocked. No nothing. We're both on the same computer with the save Norton 360 A/V. It only happens from certain email addresses to her, not all. Any idea why she would have an issue and I wouldn't? Seems like it should be the same for both of us. I checked the settings under options and they are identical. Thanks |

Hi Brunodog,
In recent weeks there has been a problem with messages sent with an attachment from Yahoo to BellSouth. The attachments on the receiving end do not show in Outlook or Outlook Express. Could this be the issue in your wife's case? -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "Brunodog" wrote in message ... Are you both using Outlook Express?
Are you both using the same ISP? As Tim mentioned, Bellsouth customers receiving messages from the Yahoo customers using the web interface in recent weeks are finding the attachments missing This is due to a bug in the Bellsouth spam filter corrupting the message headers. Different mail clients have different responses to the corruption. There is a workaround to fix the problem messages in OE until such time as Bellsouth fixes the problem. Another possible cause is an Outlook97/98/2000+ user sending to Outlook Express and using RTF. Outlook Express recipients won't see the attachments, but other Outlook97/98/2000+ customers will. For additional information, see the MS-TNEF WINMAIL.DAT Attachments section of Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_san...de.htm#ms-tnef -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Brunodog" wrote in message ... Thanks for the quick help. We are both on the same computer with the same
ISP using the same version of Outlook Express with the same Norton 360 A/V. The one thing that is different, is in the mail she was a "To" addressee and I was a "CC" addressee. Thanks again. You are going to need to look at the Message Source (Ctrl-F3) for the
two messages (yours and hers). From that you can see if the attachment is there or not. For some information on what the encoded attachment should look like, see: Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/decode.htm If you are both in the same message (TO and CC), with the same receiving ISP, the headers of the messages ought to be nearly identical. The possible differences would be - X-Apparently-To: header if present - for e-mail address on the Received: headers. Other differences would caused by some software that the message passed through on the way to OE -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Brunodog" wrote in message ... Just courious here but did you check the settings? In OE there is a
setting to not download attachments. Tools-Options-Security There you wil find som settings that can be changed. I always recomment setting the security zone to Internet Zone and then to uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentialy be a virus." Then click Apply and then Ok. Let me know if that fixes it. Bob On May 18, 5:28 pm, Brunodog wrote: Thanks for the quick help. I checked the settings. They are identical for my wife's account and mine.
They both have the box checked that says "do not allow attachments...." but since it's the same for both of us, I don't know why my OE would download the attachments and hers wouldn't. I did the Control F3 thing and here is what showed up. Info in my wife’s email message details where the attachments did not come through: Content-Type: application/ms-tnef; name="winmail.dat" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="winmail.dat" Info in my email message details where the attachments came through: Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-excel; name="2007-2008 team budgets.xls" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="2007-2008 team budgets.xls" Does this mean anything to anybody? For some reason in mine it shows the right details for the attachments but in hers it doesn't. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM" wrote: "Bob" wrote in message ups.com... Just courious here but did you check the settings? In OE there is a setting to not download attachments.
