Starting Word instead of OE
Lately, when I click on an email address on a webpage, instead of
opening Outlook Express, my default email program, I get a popup that says "Starting Word as your ....". How do I make it go back to starting OE not Word? Thanks. Jeff |

How do I make it go back to starting OE not Word? Outlook EXPRESS is a MAPI (mail API) agent. So is Outlook. OE cannot use Word as its editor to compose new mails. Outlook can use Word - if you configure Outlook to use Word as Outlook's editor. So I is likely that OE is *not* configured as the default mail program but instead Outlook is configured as the MAPI agent and you have Outlook configured to use Word as the editor. |

Thanks Robear.
Did #1 (path is correct) and #2b and things are now working correctly. That is, clicking on a mailto link on a webpage opens a new message in OE. But I had problems understanding 2a. Under file types, I have an entry for Extension: URL File Type: Internet shortcut. Should I create a new one with Extension URL:Mailto Protocol ? That does not seem to be an "extension" like the others listed under "File Types". Maybe I should just ignore it since things are working correctly? Thanks.
