Hi. I am having problems posting messages to newsgroups in Outlook Express 6
using Windows Xp Home SP2! I write the messages and click send but my messages do not appear even after reloading or resending. I know it normally takes around 5 minutes to upload them to the server but this is not my case! A few months ago I reinstalled Windows Xp Home and reinstalled all the updates from Microsoft Update but this issue has not been resolved. Please help if anyone can! Thanks, Nick Magos |

Test by clicking on the following link to open this newsgroup in OE:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...tlooke xpress Find your thread ("posting problems in OE 6!") and try to reply to this message using OE. If no joy, reply via the web-interface and tell me what ISP you're using. Also tell me if you're trying to post using OE from a location other than your own home. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin; DTS-L.org ahristosTelios wrote: As far as I know I can't post on any msnews.microsoft.com newsgroup including microsoft.public.security! I clicked on the link you provided from IE and it opened this newsgroup in
OE. I tried to respond to the post but apparently it got blocked somewhere! Specifically, I typed the message clicked on send and then send/receive but nothing happened. Actually, I got confirmation that the message was sent but when I checked in the newsgroup it was not there! Now I am typing this message from the web interface. My ISP is Forthnet S.A. in Greece and my connection is 128 KB/S ISDN(2 channel) dial up connection. Yeah, I know its outdatted technology but in Greece we move kind of slow here. LOL! Also, I am accessing the web from home so there should'nt be any hidden firewalls other than Norton Antivirus auto-protect. I have even turned off the default Windows firewall because Norton does just fine and I don't want any conflicts! I don't know if this is relevant but I recently did a system file check upon
booting and then a system defrag. If there were any system files missing wouldn't this be picked up and corrected at that time? I reinstalled Windows Xp SP2 several months ago after a Spy sherriff infection. I went to an online help site which guided me in removing most of the problems but certain applications stopped functioning correctly after that especially the IE mini browsers. Most common applications such as Word, Paint, Notepad, etc use this mini browser in their help menus. After reinstalling windows and the updates the help menus are work correctly again however the posting problem has still not been resolved and I am starting to get annoyed because most of my free time is being spent trying to solve problems instead of enjoying the internet! I am not having any problems with emails and this is what is perplexing me. Since message posts get blocked why don't the emails do also unless they are being sent with a different method?! I willing to bet money some crucial system file is missing or corrupted but if this is the case how can it be replaced/re-registered? What is the name of this file? I remember re-registering Windows picture and fax viewer last year after it too would not respond after clicking on images. I was told to register a file by using the run command. I hope am not boring anyone with this but I think the more information one has the better the chances for a correct diagnosis and timely resolution! Once again thanks for any help! After sending the newsgroup reply, is a copy of the message found in Sent
Items (assuming you have the option enabled)? -- ~PA Bear ahristosTelios wrote: I clicked on the link you provided from IE and it opened this newsgroup in OE.
