Yes that is what has been perplexing me as well for months!!! Message gets
send according to Norton or MSOE but never appears in the newsgroup! I am suspecting Norton AV 2005 is blocking the messages but since my computer skills are somewhat limited I have not been able to verify this as of yet. I am going to disable email scanning since it is an added, useless and corrupting agent and then go from there. I doubt the microsoft news server is filtering out my messages since they are being sent as plain text but of course this is not out of the question either! No offense, but Microsoft and Norton need to get on the same page to avoid all these errors and complications which are quite frustrating to the average consumer! I mean seriously who needs all this extra aggrivation?! For months I can't even add new firewall rules since I installed IE7 and an exhaustive internet search on NAV 2005 firewall script errors proves that an awful lot of people still have this problem! Norton technical support is almost useless because with the slightest problem they insist on either reinstalling Norton or upgrading to their 2007 line...and I have already done this twice within the last year with no positive effect! Hi. I have already answered these questions in my early posts(about a week
ago) but I don't mind repeating them. I connect to the internet with a Forthnet (ISP) 128 Kb ISDN (2 B-channel) dial up connection. Shortly I plan on upgrading to ADSL 2Mb but due to technological/infrastructural restrictions I was forced to this pathetic situation...not to mention the burden on my pocket is tremendous when compared to ADSL! The answer to the second question is that I am not behind any firewall(other than the pathetic NAV 2005). I have disabled Windows firewall because two firewalls normally cause conflicts. Also, I do not use any proxy server(I have verified this in internet options /advanced settings). I connect from home! Thanks for your help. ... Yes that is what has been perplexing me as well for months!!! Message gets send according to Norton or MSOE but never appears in the newsgroup! Turn off email scanning in Norton. It adds no protection over the regular resident shield and messes up OE. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Do not send mail. |

The answer to the second question is that I am not behind any

In the thread to which Steve was replying, you made reference to a spyware problem that led you to "re-install" Windows. = Did you do a Repair Install or did you format & reinstall? It's possible that some software between you and news server blocked the post, but imitated the news server saying that the post was successful. For example, Norton anti-virus when scanning outgoing e-mail tells OE that the message was accepted by the SMTP mail server before Norton has connected to the mail server. I don't know if Norton works that way with news posts. The other possibility is that your post was initially accepted but the news server later filtered it out as spam. The Microsoft news server does do spam filtering. To minimize this a possibility, make sure that news is set to plain text post (Tools, Options, Send) rather than HTML, and turn off any signature for your news accounts (Tools, Options, Signatures). Also, before running a new log, either delete or rename the old one so that it starts with a clean log. Just a few weeks ago I did a system file checker before defragmenting my hard
disk...isn't this the same as doing a file checker from the run command? As far as disabling the option to download xxx headers at a time I have already tried this but this apparently has no bearing with relation to my posting problem. Yes I did a repair install of Windows...not a format C:\ and then proceeded to re-update windows xp from Windows Update. This was several months ago but I don't recall the exact date! The reason I proceeded to such drastic measures was because of a Spy Sherriff infection(and possibly various other infections) which after removing the spyware damaged my IE mini browser. If your mini browser is damaged then you cannot view any application help files! I also reinstalled NAV 2005 around christmas time after getting script errors when opening NAV 2005 options/internet worm protection rules and a corrupt Liveupdate module. After a complete reinstall, liveupdate works correctly but I still get script errors and cannot add new rules. "PA Bear" wrote: The answer to the second question is that I am not behind any firewall(other than the pathetic NAV 2005). Here are all of your successful posts/threads: http://groups.google.com/groups/sear...coring=d&hl=en I see that you never replied (or, possibly, weren't able to reply) to Steve Cochran's post of 19 May in OE General newsgroup: http://groups.google.com/group/micro...92e8c8f6c80364 QP Go to Tools | Options | Read and uncheck the option to download xxx headers at a time and that will then give you all the messages. For the file problems go to Start | Run and type SFC /scannow and that will run system file checker. /QP = Have you done this? = With a newsgroup open in OE = View Current view: Is "Show all messages" checked? I suppose that's possible. If the Microsoft spam filtering looks at the
poster's IP address, and others from your ISP have been doing a lot of spam, your messages could get caught by that. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "ahristosTelios" wrote in message ... No. I do not use any signature when posting in newsgroups. Is it possible that my isp is being blocked by Microsoft newserver due to excessive spam problems? I have never really considered this but it could be a possibilty. I will try posting to other newsgroups to verify this! "Michael Santovec" wrote: Are you using any signature in news? There are certain words/phrases that will trigger the spam filters. If your signature contains any of these, that would cause your posts to go missing. Microsoft does not publish what the spam filters check for as that would be an aid to spammers. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "ahristosTelios" wrote in message ... Yes that is what has been perplexing me as well for months!!! Message gets send according to Norton or MSOE but never appears in the newsgroup! Part of you log goes back almost a month. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "ahristosTelios" wrote in message ... Ok.
