Is there a way to open OE newsgroup to the last message read?

Not if you are checking up on someone. What you can do is to put the last message that you read on top and then put OE Offline and open OE. That way that message will be the one on top.

In other words NO you cannot do it.

Are you using the Flag marker for anything now?
You could mark the last message read with it, then set your view to Flagged
(which you would have to create if you don't already have one).
Optionally mark that message unread as well.

Then the next time you entered the newsgroup
the view would be Flagged, there would probably
only be one message in that view, almost certainly only one
which would be marked unread--the last one read.
Therefore, OE would open the newsgroup at that message.
Then you could just change your view back to whatever
it was before you set it to Flagged and you would be able
to continue reading from where you left off
(assuming that was the intent of your question.)

Oh, one more thing: in order for this scheme to work
you must have grouped messages set to be expanded;
otherwise changing your view would likely lose your place
in the thread you were trying to keep track of (e.g. any time
you were reading a reply.)

Pizza cake! ; )
