Duplicate .DBX Files

This morning I noticed that all the old messages in my InBox had gone
altho' I wasn't that bothered .

Looking at the Store Folder I see that several folders have duplicates
like inbox,inbox(1) inbox(2) etc and some other folders have them as
well. The Sent Items has 6 The ones with the latest number suffixes
seem to be the latest ones .

I know how to reintroduce folders that have gone altogether but not
sure what to do with these duplicate folders so I can see whats in
them . If I drag them out of the Store Folder and then create a new
folder with the same name ,open it then close OE and drag them back in
will that work if I say yes to overwrite ?
thx
Stuart

Avoiding Such Corruption in Futu

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently
perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
