I read the article, but my mail is supposed to be
ATT/SBC Yahoo! DSL which is article above that. I have done everything. and ATT states configuration and passwords are correct. I have even removed my firewall and mcaffee without success for this problem. "Bruce Hagen" wrote: I don't have any first hand experience, but OE cannot read Yahoo.com mail without some help. Thank you Norman. At least I have found someone with same problem !
The work around does not work for me. AND now I can not send either. Hopefully someone is working on it. I have spent hours on this problem with sst, chat, phone, etc. etc. It is refreshing to find someone like yourself who sees what I am trying to say. I have to give it a rest for a few days before I retackle. In meantime, if you find a solution, please, please, please help me. "N. The problems have been intermittent for a week or so. I've left my
settings with the SSL as specified he Mail and news server names and settings http://help.sbcglobal.net/article.php?item=287 Sometimes is works normally, sometimes it takes a couple of minutes to go through the connection/authorization phase, and sometimes I get an error message like you. Thank you Michael.
It is not acceptable standard, is it? Especially for a paid ISP. Nice to know I have company. "Michael Santovec" wrote: The problems have been intermittent for a week or so. I really don't understand much of that. Sounds like you have a work around.
I finally initiated gmail addresses as my workaround, but I still would like to have what I am paying for. Thanks for the help. "N. Miller" wrote: On Sun, 5 Aug 2007 10:40:01 -0700, karen wrote: "N. I have to give it a rest for a few days before I retackle. In meantime, if you find a solution, please, please, please help me. Alas, my problem is only evident on receiving, and not with the normal mail clients. Not that MS Outlook Express would not encounter errors with 'pop.att.yahoo.com', but MSOE is not polling 'pop.att.yahoo.com'. I use the "Mercury Distributing POP3 Client" to poll for email at 'pop.att.yahoo.com'. Using port 995 with SSL causes the client to shut down; but using port 110 without SSL results in failed logins. Fortunately, the client continues to poll accounts, and the logged failures are intermittent, so the email eventually is downloaded. MS Oulook Express polls the "Mercury POP3 Server", which gets the email from the "Mercury Distributing POP3 Client". Once the email is ready on the Mercury POP3 Server", the client can download it without trouble. -- Norman ~Shine, bright morning light, ~now in the air the spring is coming. ~Sweet, blowing wind, ~singing down the hills and valleys. |
