You will have to wait until someone with Yahoo experience sees this for a
further explanation.

I read the article, but my mail is supposed to be
ATT/SBC Yahoo! DSL
which is article above that. I have done everything. and ATT states
configuration and passwords are correct. I have even removed my firewall
and mcaffee without success for this problem.

Thank you Norman. At least I have found someone with same problem !

The work around does not work for me. AND now I can not send either.
Hopefully someone is working on it. I have spent hours on this problem with
sst, chat, phone, etc. etc. It is refreshing to find someone like
yourself who sees what I am trying to say.

I have to give it a rest for a few days before I retackle. In meantime, if
you find a solution, please, please, please help me.

The 'at&t Yahoo! HSI servers are having difficulties with SSL at this time.
The common suggest is to revert to port 110 without SSL for the moment. If
you are not having trouble sending, leave the Outgoing server information
alone.

The problems have been intermittent for a week or so. I've left my
settings with the SSL as specified he

Sometimes is works normally, sometimes it takes a couple of minutes to

error message like you. But I've always gotten through within 5 to 10
minutes.

Thank you Michael.
It is not acceptable standard, is it? Especially for a paid ISP.

I really don't understand much of that. Sounds like you have a work around.

I finally initiated gmail addresses as my workaround, but I still would like
to have what I am paying for. Thanks for the help.

Alas, my problem is only evident on receiving, and not with the normal mail
clients. Not that MS Outlook Express would not encounter errors with
'pop.att.yahoo.com', but MSOE is not polling 'pop.att.yahoo.com'. I use the
"Mercury Distributing POP3 Client" to poll for email at 'pop.att.yahoo.com'.
Using port 995 with SSL causes the client to shut down; but using port 110
without SSL results in failed logins. Fortunately, the client continues to
poll accounts, and the logged failures are intermittent, so the email
eventually is downloaded. MS Oulook Express polls the "Mercury POP3 Server",
which gets the email from the "Mercury Distributing POP3 Client". Once the
email is ready on the Mercury POP3 Server", the client can download it
without trouble.
