Default Fake folder & fake email

A new folder always pops up called "challenge" and emails always end up in it
with the subject "challenge" in the email. Then it takes a recent email and
automatically sends it back to that person preceded with the message
"I was unable to find you in my list of contacts. The attached image
contains a password. Reply to the email and enter the password in the subject
or body of your reply". The person then sends it back to me wondering what
I'm talking about. I delete the "challenge" folder, but it always reappears
within a few hours. I run Norton anti-virus, but it picks up nothing. It's
been going on for about a month now. How do I get rid of it short of
formatting. I don't mind doing that, but I don't want to lose all of my old
emails. Thanks

My best guess is it is caused by Spam Bully, or you have an uninvited
visitor in your machine. Try with Spam bully disabled. If that doesn't cure
it, I would do a thorough search for an infestation. If you have one, a
reformat will not always get rid of it.

When all else fails, HijackThis

use. It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't fully understand the concept, but what
can I do?
I turned off spam bully, but I need it for the tons of spam I get. Is it
possible to use it without getting the challenge emails? Thanks
