1: You can't.
2: You can't. (Dock his/her pay when BCC is used). -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "SilverLight" wrote in message ... Talk to the Exchange admin on monitoring this employee's e-mail. Oops, wrong newsgroup. Thought I was in an Outlook group. Outlook Express won't work with Exchange, so you must be using an SMTP server. If it is your SMTP server, check its logs or enable logging on just this account. I figure if you can force a copy of all message sent to the SMTP server to get sent elsewhere then you have access and control over the SMTP server. When the e-mail is sent, there is no Bcc line added to the data of the message. The recipients are compiled from the To, Cc, and Bcc *fields* displayed in the e-mail client and they generate a list of RCPT-TO commands from the e-mail client telling the SMTP server who are the recipients. Then a DATA command gives the mail host the message (with headers and body). The To and Cc *fields* (displayed in the e-mail program's UI) get added to the message sent in the DATA command. The Bcc field and its contents are not included in the data of the message. The recipients never get to see the list of RCPT-TO commands that were sent to the sending mail host. You somehow configured the SMTP server to also send (i.e., add another RCPT-TO command) for the employee's boss. Since the Bcc field is not added to the data of the message, no recipient of that message will see what was never added to the message. Unless you require the employee to use a different e-mail client that does not afford the use of the Bcc field in the UI for that program, no, you can't prevent them from using the Bcc field. You won't know if the employee used the Bcc field (to add more recipients in the RCPT-TO commands) unless you have access to the SMTP server's logs. I hope your boss likes to read through all the SMTP commands even if the admin can provide logs just for the one account. |
