Default Color Highlight does not work

Using OE 6.0, Win XP Home Edition. Situation: Creating a message. Want to
highlight words or sentences in color for emphasis. I select the word(s) and
click on the formatting "A" down arrow to select color. The visual result is
black. I have sent test messages to friends; they receive with color.
Further, when I copy a MS Word file with highlighted data embedded into OE,
the colored word(s) appear as black. Hope this is adequate info. Need Help.

How does the message look in Sent Items? Assuming that you are /not/ reading
in Plain Text:

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.
