OE6 Problem

I kept getting a "compress files" pop up in outlook express 6 and clicked yes,
now I've lost all current e-mails I was working on. Are they hidden somewhere
or is there a way to recover them?

The "compact" function is a good housekeeping measure, and it used to be
voluntary. There were no reminders. You had to be aware of the need, and
make it happen by clicking the appropriate menu options. For that reason,
people didn't do it often enough, if ever, and that caused problems.
Microsoft added the popup reminder, which occurs every X number of restarts.
I don't recall was X equals - might be 300.

Someone else will have to assist with the lost emails. But, one tip for the
futu It's known to be dangerous to keep too many emails in the Inbox
folder. Some say 100 is too many, and that you should create other folders
for storing older messages. Any idea how massive your Inbox was?

This is usually caused if the compacting process is interrupted, i.e.
shutting down the machine while it is in progress.

Which folder was the lost messages in, and are they the only ones missing?
