My new AV program has found a virus in an archived OE dbx file (not found by
Nortons). I can't open this file to delete the offending item, but I also noticed that there are a number of dbx files that don't appear in the folder list in OE. They are mainly old mail folders, but if I wanted to see what's in them how can I get OE to display the folders? |

DBX files are not meant to be opened and contain the messages you see in the
OE folders. It would seem to be an e-mail in a particular folder that contains the virus, if one does exist. As for the old dbx files, you would have to import them manually. Start by dragging them to the Desktop and then do the following for each, one at a time. Open OE and create a folder with the *exact* same name as the one on the Desktop. Open the new folder and then close OE. Go to Windows Explorer and locate the Message Store folder for your OE identity, but don't open it. Click on the Desktop and drag the file from the Desktop in the right hand pane to the OE store folder in the left pane. Prompt - "Do you want to overwrite......."? Click Yes. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Ken G." wrote in message ... My new AV program has found a virus in an archived OE dbx file (not found by Nortons). Thanks for this Bruce. I was also able to open the archive folder and delete
the email with virus in it. "Bruce Hagen" wrote: DBX files are not meant to be opened and contain the messages you see in the OE folders.
