Configuring Outlook to Scan to E-mail
I purchased a new printer and when I try to scan a documen to e-mail, I
receive a message... my e-mail program doe not support Command set (MAPI) to auto attach my scan to e-mail. How can I configure my system to scan to e-mail? -- Virginia L. Stephens |
Configuring Outlook to Scan to E-mail
Outlook Express is a SIMPLE MAPI mail client. If you scanner software
requires a FULL MAPI mail client, you won't be able to use it directly with Outlook Express. You would need a program such as Outlook97/98/200+ (part of Office). If you scanner software should work with a SIMPLE MAPI program, then see: OLEXP: "Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work with Outlook Express http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098 Also, in Windows XP: Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Set Program Access and Defaults, Email and select Outlook Express. However, you have more control if you save the image to a file from the scanner/camera program, then start a mail message and attach the image file. This isn't dependent on MAPI support. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Lacy" wrote in message ... Thanks Michael. I tried both of your suggestions below, but I still have the
same problem of not being able to attach from e-mail. I have been using the manual method of attaching from file. Maybe, I'll consider updating my outlook software. Thanks again. -- Virginia L.
