A blemish in conversation support in local folders?
 

You can highlight any message in the thread (conversation) and press
Ctrl-T to mark the thread (conversation) as read.

I hadn't been paying attention to the thread mechanism in mail ... my focus
was on newsgroups. But no that mentioned marking conversations there with
Ctrl-T, I see that MS did a good job in providing this feature in both
modes.

Thanks again, Frank, for all your advice. Now, thanks to you, I can back
up our entire conversion in a coherent way with one deletion of the previous
backup and a ctrl-drag of the current thread.
