I'm switching from AOL to PeoplePC. I have 2 mail accounts setup in OE on
PeoplePC one of which I have no problem with, the other I can receive email but get the following error when trying to send email: "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: PeoplePc Online, Server: SMTPauth.PeoplePc.com Protocol: SMTP, Port 587, Secure (SSL): No,Error number 0x800ccc0f." Both email accounts have identical settings except, of course, for account names. I have checked the settings thoroughly for misspellings, punctuation errors, etc. The computer is not networked. I have deleted and resetup the offending account several times. For 3 days PeoplePC has not responded to me regarding this issue. Anyone know what the problem is and what I need to do to fix it? |

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no
additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary: paste Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have the most recent virus definitions. /paste http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...02111812533106 Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you are using OL and OE http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813514 -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Shell/User, Security), Aumha.org VSOP, DTS-L.org Stan wrote: I'm switching from AOL to PeoplePC. Did you also check the box that says "My server requires
authentication," and set the option to "use the same username and password as the incoming mail server." (on the settings button)? If you still have problems, you may want to record an smtp.log which will show more details about outgoing mail. To create an SMTP.log In OE5+, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Mail You may need to close OE after doing the send for the log to get written to disk. The log will be in the Store Folder which is listed in Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Stan" wrote in message ...
