unable to print emails

I have discovered that I can no longer print emails from OE6 (+ SP !) or eml
files that have been Saved As eml. Neither the Print Button nor Control + P
work. However, if I Save As a txt file in My Documents etc, it is printable
as normal. I have just uninstalled Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2005 and Norton
SystemWorks 2005 from my PC using the Symantec tools recommended, and wonder
if there's a 'bug' remaining somewhere that has 'locked' the eml messages.

Anyone any ideas? Or similar experiences? My printer, an Epson Stylus C82,
works fine for everything else. My OS is Win98 SE.

The fix for this problem is often to go to Start | Run and type
regsr32 ole32.dll
and press Enter. Then Restart the computer.

Why this is the fix is a mystery. I suspect that it is caused by some piece
of spyware or adware or maybe the removal of same, just like the removal of
some spyware breaks the Winsock stack and people have to use LSPFix
(http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm) to fix it. (For the latter WinXP SP2 users
only have to run
netsh winsock reset
from a Cmd window.

Hi Mike
Thanks but none of the suggestions worked. I wondered if the extension eml
had 'disappeared' and checked in Folder Options/File Type. The extension is
not listed there but when I tried to add it I got a message that it was
already in use by MS Internet Mail Message. So where is it? And its only eml
files that are affected. Epson tell me it has to be an MS software problem.
And I don't get any form of error message. Also wondering if there should be
an OE sub-folder in the Windows\Temp folder. I hadn't noticed it before but
seem to remember seeing one on a friend's PC.

Hi Mike, thanks for the suggestions but the problem remains. I decided to
check if the eml extension was listed under Folder Option\File Types and it's
not there.
However when I tried to add it I got a message that eml was in use by MS
Internet Mail Message. So where is it? Incidentally, I don't get any error
messages, just failure to respond to Print and Control + P.

If when you double click an EML file it opens in a Outlook Express
message window, then the file associations are not likely the problem.
If in doubt about what it opened in, the Help menu item should list
"About Microsoft Outlook Express"

You mention a problem with the Print button and Ctrl-P. Does File,
Print work?
