I just deleted the some 6000 posts.........
I hope I didn't do something wrong....it said there were over 6000 posts and
I did a select all then delete and they all disappeared...If I hadn't known that I was to delete them then they would be taking up a lot of space!..... |

Now is there some central external site to view all posts to this newsgroup
without my having to keep everything on my computer?????? "Yolanda Martin" wrote in message ... Hi Yolanda,
Not to worry! Feel free to delete as many headers and/or messages as you please. The server still has them available, but the time they are retained varies from a day to a few months -- depending on the news server in question. The number of headers downloaded at any one time can be set in: Tools, Options, Read tab If a headers/messages were mistakenly deleted the newsgroup server or (subscribed)newsgroup can be reset in: Tools, Options, Maintenance Clean Up Now First browse to the server name or newsgroup name to be reset. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "Yolanda Martin" wrote in message ... Hi Yolanda,
What you see will be on your computer no matter if it's in Outlook Express or Internet Explorer, although you might feel more comfortable clearing the temporary Internet files for IE. In most cases it should not be a concern if the files are not cleared right away -- with the size of today's hard drives. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "Yolanda Martin" wrote in message ... In ,
Yolanda Martin had this to say: My reply is at the bottom of your sent message: I hope I didn't do something wrong....it said there were over 6000 posts and I did a select all then delete and they all disappeared...If I hadn't known that I was to delete them then they would be taking up a lot of space!..... You just deleted all the posts from the server! Now the archives are lost and my computer doesn't have them any more! Okay, just kidding... Really, you can't break anything... At least not here at any rate. -- Galen - MS MVP - Windows (Shell/User & IE) http://dts-l.org/ http://kgiii.info/ "I am glad of all details, whether they seem to you to be relevant or not." - Sherlock Holmes |

Just a suggestion when using Outlook Express (not used by those who keep messages) With OE open, select (highlight) the Outlook Express heading in the folder pane, then: Tools Options Maintenance Clean Up Now Delete Compact (when delete finishes) ALL news group messages in ALL News Groups will be deleted (can be reset if needed) Set the "Synchronise Settings" to "New Messages" or "Headers Only". Also setting the "View" for each News Group to "Hide Read Messages" makes for a neat and tidy OE. |
