Default Disable the window update of IE7

Hello group
In my old computer the window update just recently finished the
automatic downloading of the Internet explorer 7(which I did not
realize that the update was about it) and it is urging me to install
it . I am already happy with internet explorer 6and I have no need
for the IE7 therefore is there a way to disable this toolbar that is
pesky, that every time I boot up this PC this reminder will not come
up anymore.?
BtW
Why is MSwindows forcing users to update to IE7 when this product had
notorious reputation in the past ? What are the advantage of IE7
compared to its predecessors.? Were the bugs been sorted out already.
Thanks for your informative reply

Thanks for that info but it still did not remove that icon from my
toolbar( i.e The shield with an exclamation point). It just give me an
alternative how to stop it temporarily but I am sure that the download
is still there and if I boot up my computer again it will likely pop
up again ( or will it so?)
In addition to that my antivirus was notifying me that if I set I
aside this particular window update the security status of my PC
will likely be compromised. How is that ? Why would a notorious update
to IE7 would be forced on the throat of the users? Its only microsoft
that is claiming the benefits of IE7 but others I have read in the
past have negative experience about its supposed benefits.
I would like to know more details about this issue and also I also
want to know the recent personal experience of users in this group
about the actual status, pros and cons of IE7 and IE6.
Thank You!
Roy
