Outlook Express 6.0: Reading news offline

Hello all!

I have a problem with offline news reading, that I didn't
found in the archives.

The problem is, that I don't have an own internet access.
I mainly use the connection of my parents, who are using WinXP.

I'm using Linux and Win2000 at home and would like to download
my prefered usenet and google groups here at my parents,
carry them home (USB Stick), and read them with OE 6 under
Win2000.
Also, I would like to read them under Linux.

Wenn I copy the .dbx file into the OE directory ,OE either crashes
or it tells, that it can't read the inbox.

Can anybody tell me what's wrong here?
Any suggestions how to fix it, or which alternatives I have?

Regards
Mirko

You can't just copy the DBX file into OE. See:
How to import a single mail folder (*.dbx)
http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#importdbx
For an alternate description, see the last paragraph he
http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx

I don't know how well it works with newsgroup DBX files. It works OK
with local folders.

I don't know of any way you'd be able to read them under Linux. The DBX
file format is unique to Outlook Express.
