When I get a picture it opens up automatically and across the whole
screen. I have checked the do not open attachments unless I click on it
but it still opens up.

Windows version?

The size of the pic is controlled by the sender. You can:

1. Disable the Preview Pane (View Layout Preview)

2 Enable Tools Options Read Read all messages in plain text.

Tools, Options, Read tab, check Read all messages in plain text.
