Do you have the bar above the message that says, "Some pictures have been
blocked................."? Are you reading in Plain Text? Tools | Options | Read. Uncheck that option. If this doesn't solve it: There are a few possibilities. Some are on the sender's end, and some may be on your end. Thanks for your rerply,
I have read all below and the www.oehelp indicated that pspimage where indicated. Changed them as the artical referenced and, still, have to click on the second bar that says "some images have been blocked to help prevent the sender from identifinf your computer". There must be a work around. drybones "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... Do you have the bar above the message that says, "Some pictures have been blocked................."? If you don't want to have to click on the bar, go to Tools | Options |
Security and uncheck that option. If you get HTML Spam, your address will be verified as legitimate just by opening the e-mail. That is the reason the option was added to SP2. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "drybones" wrote in message ... Just to clarify a bit what Bruce responded, in XP SP2, they added a feature
under Tools | Options | Security to block images linked to websites in email. The reason for this is that spammers were embedding 1 pixel images in messages and that allowed them to track if an email was opened or not. Then, by having a number tied to that image and associated with the email they sent you, then if that image was accessed, that told them the email address was valid, and so they could put it on their verified email list for spammers that they sell. So by blocking external content such as images linked to websites, MS killed the ability to track in this dastardly fashion. G If the email is from someone you know, you can go to Tools | Options | Security and uncheck the block image box to allow for the image to be then accessed and displayed. Or hit reply, and then the image will be displayed. This all assumes that you don't have OE set to read all messages in plain text, but then you wouldn't see the redX at all. cheers, steve "drybones" wrote in message ... G mostly for people who didn't know enough to look at E-mail while offline? Microsoft assumes everyone is always online. G Haven't you noticed? And how many users out there even know the difference? I sure hope the ones who don't have the features which are only available to XPsp2 users know the difference. That's mainly why I think maybe the Work Offline option still should be mentioned occasionally in discussions such as this one. Actually, hardly ever read any email offline myself. I can't break the habit. I'm not sure if I completely trust the new mechanisms and I'm always paranoid that I might have accidentally left an option on, e.g. while testing, that I would normally be relying on being off. Having Working Offline set is still reassuring for me even while just reading. Above all, though, it is the best way to avoid accidentally sending a partially composed message while connected. Good practice for broadband users who can't hangup (unless they resort to ipconfig /release etc.). EG Robert --- |
