An attached file *.eml that contains animated cartoons can not be displayed
by outlook express. Can not find any settings in options that would prevent
this. Any ideas?

Tools | Options | Security tab
see if "Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail" is checked,
if so, uncheck it then try to open it again.

If no luck there, START | Control Panel | Internet Options
Click on the Delete Files button then check the box to "Delete offline
content"
Click OK

Now see if the message will display them.

Save the .eml attachment then open it, does it show the images then?

If not, CTRL F3 on the message. Scroll thru it to see if the images are
attached to the message.
