e-mails truncated

I have a client whose OE e-mails are being
truncated. Like the last packet doesn't get
through, or at least that's the way it appears.

Any known causes of such a situation?

The client uses McAfee.

Thanks,
Bill

Disable email scanning of outgoing and incoming messages. It provides no
additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary:

QP
Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that
are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans
incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and
email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To
make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep
Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have
the most recent virus definitions.

TML format e-mail gets truncated
After you install Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), the body text of
HTML-based e-mail messages that are sent from Outlook Express may be
truncated and may be missing data. This problem may occur if the e-mail
message contains non-ASCII characters, such as Chinese characters. For a
fix, see: Outlook Express for Windows update available
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887797

Truncated Body: Outlook Express for Windows update available

McAfee is not a very good idea with OE.

Frank,

Support.microsoft.com/kb/887797 states a pre-req
of KB823353. However, that KB seems to relate
to OE 6 SP1. I'm at OE 6 SP2. Do you see anything
there that indicate that there are NO PRE-REQ's for
997797 with OE 6 SP2?

Thanks,
Bill

I have no idea. I never had the problem. If you don't need KB823353
Windows Update shouldn't offer it and it won't install.

Thanks Frank. If disabling McAfee doesn't help the
situation, I'll have the client install KB997797.

Normally McAfee has to be uninstalled, not just disabled.

And complete the uninstall by running this:
