Default 421 error

What is a 421 error? Do I address it at my end (client) or is this a problem
with the server?
This happens every time I "Send and Receive" and one or more emails are in
the Outbox: [server name and number have been disguised]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'mail.xxxxxxxxcomputers.com',
Server: 'mail.xxxxxxxxcomputers.xxxxxxx.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 555.55.555.5 (555.55.555.5:25),
connect error 10060', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error
Number: 0x800CCC67

You probably have a 3rd party on your machine that is changing the SMTP
server name to that IP address (555.55.555.5)
Go to OEToolsoptionsaccountsselect accountpropertiesserver, enter the
correct server name as provided by your ISP.
It might be caused by your Anti Virus when it scans email, disable that part
of your AV, since it is a 'cosmetic only' part of the application, Spam
Blockers cause this too.
Next you need to clean up your machine:
Check for Spywa

Default 421 error

421 is an error code from the SMTP mail server.

From your example, server 'mail.xxxxxxxxcomputers.xxxxxxx.com' told OE

'421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 555.55.555.5 (555.55.555.5:25),
connect error 10060'

Is the server mentioned as 555.55.555.5 always the same?

Is server 'mail.xxxxxxxxcomputers.xxxxxxx.com' under your control or is
that your ISP's server?

If it's a mail server that you are using, and not your ISP's mail
server, the issue may be that you aren't authorized to send via that
mail server and it's a variation on the relaying problem:

Many ISPs require that you be directly connected to their service (not
via another ISP, corporate LAN, etc.) in order to send via their SMTP
mail server. (They match your IP address against those owned by the
service.) An exception is made for messages being sent to recipients of
their service. The typical error message will be "Cannot Relay" or "Not
Local" or "Not Gateway", "Not Allowed Rcpthost" or something similar. A
workaround for this is to use the SMTP mail server of the service that
you connect via, but leave your other settings the same. And for some
mail services, the SMTP Authentication may be needed.
