Email attachments are missing
After working fine for two years, I suddenly have a problem receiving
attachments from one particular sender. He sends the email with an attachment but it shows up on my computer with no attachment. If he also sends it to my co-workers, the attachment is there. But when it comes to me - no attachment shows up. When his coworker sends the exact same email with attachment to me, the attachment is there and I can open it without problems. What's going on? Are his attachments being blocked? If that's the case, how do I change it and why did it happen? Any help please will be appreciated! |

Look at your options under Outlook Express menu, Tools/Options/Security -
are you blocking attachments? What is the file extension of the problem attachments? What version of Outlook Express (as shown in the Help/About screen for OE) are you running and what operating system are you using? Is your ISP, tdstelcom, filtering your mail? -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Hi,
No, attachments are not being blocked. I will check the file extension and get back to you. The thing is, if the email and attachment is sent to both my coworker and I, and I don't get the attachment, my coworker can forward the email she received and then I DO get the attachment. I also can receive the attachment if sent from my friend's coworker's computer. Just not from his computer. The problems just seems to be between his computer and my computer. I am using Outlook Express 6.0, Windows XP. Thanks for trying to help "Jim Pickering" wrote: Look at your options under Outlook Express menu, Tools/Options/Security - are you blocking attachments? If messages are sent using the Exchange family of mail programs
(includes Windows Messaging or Outlook97/98/2000+) and the option to use Rich Text Format is selected, it puts the RTF message (and any attached files) in an attachment called WINMAIL.DAT (application/ms-tnef). But this attachment is useless to most other mail programs. In some mail programs (e.g. Outlook Express), the attachment won't even be visible. The Exchange user can turn off the RTF option for messages to selected recipients. Note that if sending via an Exchange server, the Exchange server administrator may be overriding the mail client settings. In this case, the administrator will need to make changes on the server. In some cases, the Exchange server actually removes the attachments to some recipients. For additional information, see the MS-TNEF WINMAIL.DAT Attachments section of Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_san...de.htm#ms-tnef -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "chelley55" wrote in message ...
