OE^ Links don't work

I am running XP SP2 Home Edition on a laptop. I setup OE to receive my
e-mail which it does. I have However, if I try to click on a link in an
e-mail I go nowhere.

I have gone into IE/internet options/advanced & un clicked "Always send
URL's as UTF-8.

I have also gone into OE and changed Options/security/ virus protection
from "Restricted sites zone" to "Internet zone".

The links work in IE.

This might be unrelated but, I get an error message sometimes which says
something like "This program needs to close while another program finishes
installing". I was not installing any other programs or downloading any
updates at the time. I have not yet discovered a pattern to this message.

If anyone can help me with this, I'd be beholdin' to you!

Try this. Go to StartRun and type
the following: (or copy/paste it)

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg
(Check the path to msimn.exe to make sure that is the correct one)

be sure to include the quotations marks and the space between the
ending quote mark and the Fwd slash.

Then open Internet Explorer and go to ToolsInternet OptionsPrograms
and set OE as the default mail (and news) program.

Regarding the error message?

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol (NOT URL:Internet Shortcut)
and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4
WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Start | Run and type

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
