How did you install OE? It was already on your machine.
What happens when you try to send an e-mail with an attachment? Any error message? Define: I can only access emails for 30 seconds after I received them. What happens to them? Very important: Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in Custom Mode and opt out of e-mail scanning when the option arises. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Benjamin Lousack" wrote in message ... Also exclude EML files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's anti-virus seems to be causing problems too. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Reply in Newsgroup, not by email. |
