My Outlook Express keeps changing to work off line. I recently added an
imap gmail connection and installed Windows SP3. I don't know if these recent changes have anything to do with this. I haven't noticed this kind of behavior before. I usually use the Sand/Recv button at the top of the screen and the option setting for checking and receiving new messages is set for every 30 min. Is it normal for OE to keep showing working off line every now and then? |

IE and OE share the File, Work Offline setting, so if you selected that
option in IE it would affect OE as well. OE will automatically shift to work offline mode if when it does a send and receive (manual or automated) AND there is no Internet connection AND if a dial-up connection you have not told OE to dial when needed (Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Connection) -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "homepc" wrote in message ... Tools | Options | Connections. Is Hang up after sending and receiving
checked? No -- this is not checked. Does this happen in IE with OE open but minimized? Does it happen in IE with OE not open? No -- I use Mozilla Fire Fox. Both FF and IE have the same setting to work on line. This problem just started to appear this last week after installing SP3. The update made MS Outlook the default email program. I reset OE as the default email program again. This problem seems to occur randomly. I check back from time to time and everything is fine. Then, the odd day OE is set to work off line again. I forgot to mention that I am using Zone Alarm Security Suite, if that makes any difference. "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ... SP3 was installed via regular Windows update. ZA was turned off during the
install.
