Problem subscribing to Newsgroups
I'm trying to subscribe to microsoft newsgroups on my backup laptop, but the
newsgroup subscription service in Outlook Express does not seem to be working, at least not for me. After clicking on "msnews.microsoft.com" in the "Folders" pane in OE, and then on "Newsgroups button", the Newsgroup Subscription window pops up, but when I type a keyword into the " Display newsgroups which contain: " search bar, nothing happens. Am I missing out a step in the the procedure ? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks Alan C. B |

Does the cursor blink in the search bar? If you type in outlookexpress, is
the list not smaller? Look at the scroll bar size. Is the list of newsgroups showing in the box below the search bar? If not, click the Reset button. If the list is showing, I would remove the account, reboot and add it back. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Alan C. Brown" wrote in message ... Are you typing in uppercase? All microsoft newsgroup contain only lower case letters. Hmm... apparently there are a few now which do contain Uppercase letters. Who knew? ; ) BTW it would probably be a good idea to use the Reset List button. And make sure that you are looking with the All tab, not the Subscribed or New tabs. --- Am I missing out a step in the the procedure ? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks Alan C. B |

search bar, nothing happens. That's not what that Search is for. Hint: Try entering "outlookexpress" or "windowsxp" or "windows.vista" (w/out the quotes). -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Alan C. Robert, thanks for your advice (also Bruce Hagen & PA Bear). The Reset List
button did the trick. Alan C. Brown "Robert Aldwinckle" wrote in message ... "Alan C. Brown" wrote in message ...
