Some people like to uncheck Send Messages Immediately in Tools | Options |
Send. This will keep the message in the Outbox until you physically press
Send / Receive. A small second chance to avoid what happened to you.

As for your current problem, change your name and move to Alaska.

So plan the bash on the day before her birthday, or the week before, so she
won't be expecting it at that time. If you plan for the next day, she'll
feel disappointed when nothing happens on the big day.

So how do you "accidentally" tell someone about a big birthday bash? If the
husband told you and ask to keep it a secret, the problem is with you not
keeping the secret. If you found out about the bash but were not told to
keep it secret and you told the wife before being told it was a secret then
it's not your fault that you mentioned it.

Once e-mail gets sent, it is nearly impossible to recall it. See
http://snipurl.com/exch_recall.
