It certainly does in my OE with Office 2003, with no tweaking at all.

Well good for you! The OP has a missing or damaged CSAPI3T1.DLL and you
don't. Of course yours works. The OP's did until it broke. It can happen to
anyone's machine.

That's because of the version of Office. With Word/Office 95 or 97
tweaking is needed. The spell checker files in 95/97 are different than
the ones in 2000/2002/2003.
