OE6 and PowerPoint Viewer

I'm running XPHome SP2 and OE6, with the Microsoft Office Power Point
Viewer 2007.

I received an .pps attachment in an OE6 email. When I try to double
click on the attachment to open it, I get 'the file doesn't have a
program associated with it...go to the Folder Options control panel and
create an association'

When I go there, I see that all the Powerpoint files are already set to
either Print or Show.

If I save the attachment to my desktop, and do an 'open with', and select
Microsoft Office Power Point Viewer, the pps opens just fine.

I had all of this working for years, but recently reinstalled XP, and am
now getting this machine configured like it used to be. But, I can't
figure this one out.

Could it be that I have to define a new action in the Folder Options,
called "OPEN"? If so, what do I put in DDE?

Thanks.

I used the manual method. At first, I cut and pasted the string that was
already used for Show, which was C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
\Office12\pptview.exe "%1", to Open, but that didn't work.

I examined that string carefully, and noticed that it didn't have a
quotation mark (") after .exe. I added the ", and it worked.

I did uncheck the DDE box, but when I went back to it later, I see that
the system keeps checking it and adding PPTVIEW and System to the
Application and Topic fields. But, it works fine.

Thank you.

You're welcome. Use DDE will always get rechecked. It is the action of
unchecking it once that is sometimes the fix.
